MY NAME IS REBECCA.
Photography captured me when I was seven years old; that’s when my grandfather, an avid naturalist and hobbyist photographer, gifted me with a 1.2 megapixel film camera and took me on one of his Texas horned lizard research expeditions. We’d catch ’em, tag ’em, and let ’em go again, and that was exciting, but more so was the little black box that I carried around everywhere and used to take pictures of the various treasures that I found and the bugs and animals that I managed to sneak up on.
I’ve always been good at two things: telling stories and having adventures.
Seventeen years later, I still regularly stalk wildlife, but I’ve also fallen in love with photographing my clients. There’s something so profoundly beautiful about watching someone’s adventure unfold and being entrusted to forever preserve that leg of their life journey in photographs, about setting out on photo-hikes with perfect strangers and gaining new friends and adventure buddies by the end of the trail. I love what I do!
Other facts: I’ll probably edit your photos while cuddling with my cat, Captain. I contribute freelance writing and photography to Austin.com, The Georgetown View, and PictureCorrect.com. I feel most at home in my hiking boots and would likely survive a zombie apocalypse. Oh, and in case you’re actually a closeted photography nerd, here’s a list of my favorite gear:
- Nikon D810 & D800
- Nikon 24mm f/1.4
- Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8
- Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8
- Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8
- Nikon 50mm f/1.4
ADVENTUROUS It takes an adventurer to photograph life’s adventures. I’m not afraid of the rain and I’ll do whatever it takes to get that perfect shot for you. If you have an idea for a photograph – even a crazy one – let’s make it happen!
EMPATHETIC It takes empathy to tell beautiful stories. I’ll dedicate time to understand who you are and what you’re about so that I can tell your story in the way it should be told and capture those deeply profound moments in your life.
